    “그가 잠언 삼천 가지를 말하였고 그의 노래는 천다섯 편이며”(열왕기상 4장 32절)

 
    본문의 노래는 히브리어로 שִׁיר[shîyr, 쉬르]입니다. 이 단어는 시 또는 노래를 광범위하게 일컫는 말로 세속적인 것과 신령한 것을 모두 포함합니다. 본문으로 볼 때 솔로몬은 시와 음악을 상당히 좋아했으며, 그의 뛰어난 문학적 재능과 풍부한 감수성을 능히 볼 수 있습니다. 솔로몬의 저작 중 오늘날까지 전해지고 있는 것은 얼마 되지 않습니다. 구약의 잠언은 919절로 그중 솔로몬의 잠언은 773절이 남아 있습니다. 그리고 노래로는 아가와 시편 72편, 127편 등이 남아 있을 뿐입니다.

 
    다윗과 그가 양성한 찬양 전문가들의 시편은 성경에 기록이 되어 오늘날도 찬양의 모범으로 우리에게 전해지고 있는데 어찌하여 그의 아들 솔로몬에게서는 더욱더 영감 있는 시편이 많이 나오지 않았을까요? 이것은 솔로몬이 즐겼던 노래가 세속적이며 그가 지은 노래들인 찬양이 아니라는 것을 말하는 것입니다. 참으로 안타까운 일이 아닐 수 없습니다.
 
    그토록 지혜로운 자가 아름다운 찬송의 시편을 쓰고 노래했더라면 그리고 그의 찬양이 어떠한 형태로든 우리에게 전해졌었더라면 우리에게 큰 유익이 될 수 있었을 것입니다.
 
    세속적인 노래가 무조건 나쁘다는 것이 아닙니다. 그러나 우리의 영적 유익을 위해 우리는 음악의 근원이 어디인지 아는 것이 중요합니다. 무신론적 가치관, 유물론적 가치관 속에서 흘러나온 음악이 우리의 영혼을 살찌게 할 수 없습니다. 유물론적인 인생관은 그 첫 시작이 인격체가 아닌 물질에 있기 때문입니다.
 
    하나님께 그 인생의 기반을 둔 사람은 질서의 하나님, 사랑의 하나님, 생명의 하나님을 배우게 됩니다. 이러한 사람의 음악은 자신을 위하여 헛되이 지절거리는 음악이 아니라 자신의 근본 원인이 되시는 창조주 하나님을 경배하고 찬양하는 것입니다. 그런 음악은 질서가 있고 생명이 있으며 오직 창조주 하나님만을 경배하게 됩니다.

    "He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five." (1 Kings 4:32)

    The text's song is שִׁיר[shîyr] in Hebrew. This word broadly refers to a poem or song, which includes both secular and spiritual. The text shows that Solomon loved poetry and music quite a lot, and one can see his outstanding literary talent and rich sensitivity. Only a few of Solomon's writings are still handed down to this day. The Old Testament has 919 verses, of which 773 verses of Solomon's mantra remain. And there are only Aga, Psalm 72, and 127 verses left.


    David and the psalms of praise experts he has nurtured have been recorded in the Bible and are still handed down to us as models of praise today, so how come many more inspiring psalms have been produced by his son Solomon? This means that the songs Solomon enjoyed were secular and not his songs of praise. It is very unfortunate.


    If such a wise man had written and sung a beautiful psalm of hymns and his praise had been delivered to us in some form, it could have been of great benefit to us.


    It doesn't mean that secular songs are always bad. However, for our spiritual benefit, it is important for us to know where music comes from. Music from atheistic and materialistic values cannot make our souls fat. The materialistic view of life is because its beginning lies in matter, not in person.


    Those who have based their lives on God learn the God of order, the God of love, and the God of life. The music of these people is not music that is in vain for themselves, but to worship and praise God the Creator, who is their root cause. Such music is ordered and has life, and only God the Creator is worshiped.
