부자들이 하는 일(What the Rich Do)

    부자들은 어떤 일을 하고 있는가? 부자들은 시간, 공간, 자본이라는 생산요소로 직장을 만들어 직장의 주인인 사업가가 되거나 그렇게 만든 부(富)로 투자를 하는 투자가가 되지만, 가난한 사람들은 생산요소인 시간을 사업가나 투자가를 위해서 소비하는 직장인이 된다.

    부자들은 남의 시간(Other People's Time)을 생산의 지렛대로 이용하고, 남의 돈(Other People's Money)으로 제품이나 서비스를 생산하거나 유통하는 일방향의 플랫폼이나 상호작용하는 플랫폼을 만든다.

    그리고 부자들은 회원(Member)을 자산으로 만든다. 부자들은 가맹점(Franchise)을 만들어 경영하거나 시스템이 있는 가맹점을 사서 경영하는 반면, 가난한 사람들은 시스템도 없는 '갑질' 하는 가맹점을 사서 자영한다.

    가맹점(Franchise)이란 동맹이나 연맹, 조직 따위에 가입되어 있는 가게나 점포로 표현되기 때문에 사업자 회원이라 할 수 있다. 결국 부자들은 플랫폼을 만드는 일, 회원을 확보는 일, 시간과 돈을 투자할 사람을 모집하는 일, 그리고 이러한 일을 세일즈 하는 것이 전부이다.

    부자들은 법인(法人)이 사업을 하게 하지만, 가난한 사람들은 자기(自己)가 사업을 하게 한다. 법인의 대표는 적자를 봐도 보수를 받지만, 자영업자는 적자를 보면 무보수로 일하고, 빚을 얻어서라도 직원의 급여를 주어야 한다.

    가난한 사람들은 오직 자기의 시간만 이용하며, 부자들의 직장인이 되어 시간을 소비한 대가로 받은 돈을 부자들의 플랫폼인 토지와 건물과 사이버 공간에서 소비하고, 부자들의 자산인 회원이 되어 살아간다.

    플랫폼(Platform)이 무엇인지, 또 어떻게 작동하는지를 이해하는 데는 마셜 밴 앨스타인 외 2인의 저서 「플랫폼 레볼루션」이 도움이 될 것이다. 그는 "4차 산업혁명의 주인공은 플랫폼을 구축하거나 활용하는 자가 될 것이다."라고 말했다. 만약 내가 플랫폼을 구축할 수 없다면, 활용할 수 있는 것이 무엇인지 배워야 한다.

    로버트 기요사키는 저서 「부자 아빠 가난한 아빠」에서 부자가 될 수 있는 방법을 언급했는데, 월세를 받을 수 있는 부동산 투자, 그리고 타인의 시간을 활용하는 일로 내가 일을 하여 3백만 원을 벌 수 있는 일을 남을 시켜서 2백50만 원으로 할 수 있다면 그렇게 하라고 말한다. 그런 일을 10번만 하면 나의 수입은 5백만 원이 되므로 타인의 시간과 자본을 지렛대(Leverage)로 이용하는 방법을 찾으라는 것이다.

    레버리지 효과(Leverage Effect)를 이해할 때는 롭 무어의 저서  「레버리지 - 자본주의 속에 숨겨진 부의 비밀」이 도움이 된다. 그는 "만약 행복한 삶과 시간적인 자유를 원한다면 더 열심히, 더 오래 일하라는 성공의 법칙이 근거 없는 망상이라는 것을 알아야 한다."며 레버리지 당하고 사는 것과 레버리지 하며 사는 것의 차이점을 말하고 있다.

    "이익의 절반을 가지려면 사업을 하라."는 유대인의 속담이 있다. 부자들이 하는 일은 먼저 부(富)의 씨앗과 나무를 뿌리거나 심고, 나중에 수확한 열매를 파는 일이다. 그러나 가난한 사람들은 부자들의 밭에서 수확하는 일을 먼저 하며, 나중엔 이삭 줍기에 관심을 심는다. 뿌려진 씨앗이 모두 다 성장하지는 않겠지만, 성장한 씨앗의 결실은 약간의 시간이 흐르면, 백 배가 아니라 수천, 수만 배가 될 수 있다. ^[각주:1]

    What do the rich do? The rich create jobs using the production factors of time, space, and capital, and become businessmen who are the owners of the jobs, or investors who invest the wealth they create, but the poor become workers who spend their time, which is a production factor, for businessmen or investors.

    The rich use other people's time as a lever for production, and create one-way or interactive platforms that produce or distribute products or services with other people's money.

    And the rich make members their assets. While the rich create and manage franchises or buy franchises with systems and manage them, the poor buy franchises that do not have systems and are 'bullies' and run their own businesses.

    Franchises are expressed as stores or shops that are affiliated with alliances, federations, or organizations, so they can be called business members. In the end, the rich create platforms, acquire members, recruit people to invest time and money, and sell these things.

    The rich let corporations do business, but the poor let themselves do business. The representative of the corporation gets paid even if it runs a deficit, but the self-employed work without pay when they run a deficit, and have to pay their employees' salaries even if it means borrowing money.

    The poor only use their own time, become employees of the rich, and spend the money they receive in return for their time on the rich's platforms, which are land, buildings, and cyberspace, and live as members, which are the rich's assets.

    The book "Platform Revolution" by Marshall Van Alstyne et al. will be helpful in understanding what a platform is and how it works. He said, "The protagonists of the 4th Industrial Revolution will be those who build or utilize platforms." If I can't build a platform, I have to learn what I can utilize.

    Robert Kiyosaki mentioned ways to become rich in his book, “Rich Dad Poor Dad.” He said that if you can earn 3 million won by working and have someone else do it for 2.5 million won by investing in real estate that you can receive monthly rent for, and using other people’s time, if you can do it, do it. If you do that 10 times, your income will be 5 million won, so find a way to use other people’s time and capital as leverage.

    When understanding the leverage effect, Rob Moore’s book, “Leverage: The Secret of Wealth Hidden in Capitalism,” is helpful. He says, “If you want a happy life and time freedom, you need to know that the law of success that says to work harder and longer is a groundless delusion.” He talks about the difference between living with leverage and living with leverage.

    There is a Jewish proverb that says, “If you want half the profit, do business.” The work of the rich is to first sow or plant the seeds and trees of wealth, and then later sell the fruits they have harvested. However, the poor first harvest the fields of the rich, and later take an interest in gleaning. Not all the seeds that are sown will grow, but the fruits of the seeds that have grown can grow thousands or tens of thousands of times over a little time, not a hundred times.
