초침의 운명(The fate of the second hand)

살다 보면 회의를 느낄 때가 있습니다.
거창한 일, 가치 있는 일,
멋진 일을 하는 사람도 많겠지만
대다수 사람이 하는 일은
작은 일의 반복인 경우가 많습니다.
다람쥐 쳇바퀴 돌듯 직장생활을 하다 보면,
매일 똑같이 청소하고 빨래하고 밥을 차리다 보면
문득 회의감에 빠집니다.
<이게 뭐지?>
‘내가 하는 일이 의미가 있을까’라고 말입니다.
‘평생 이렇게 의미 없는 종종거림의 삶을 사는 것은 아닌지’
‘이런 삶이 무슨 의미가 있는지’ 하는 생각도 듭니다.

벽에 걸린 시계 안에도
이런 삶이 모두 존재합니다.

초침의 운명은 얼마나 기구한지,
초침이 60바퀴를 돌 때
그제야 분침은 한 바퀴를 돌고
분침이 한 바퀴를 돌 때
시침은 겨우 한 칸을 움직입니다.
생각해 보십시오.
온종일 시침이 겨우 두 바퀴를 돌 때
초침은 무려 1,440바퀴를 그 가녀린 몸으로 돌아야 합니다.

세상 불공평함이 시계 안에 들어있습니다.
그래도 낙망할 필요가 없습니다.
초침이 움직이지 않는 한,
분침, 시침은 단 한 칸도 나아갈 수 없습니다.
존재는 존귀합니다.

단 한걸음의 의미만으로도
일순간 위대해질 수 있습니다.

In life, there are times when I feel skeptical.
grandiose work, worthy work,
I'm sure there are a lot of people who do cool things
What most people do is
It's often a small repetition of things.
If you work like a squirrel wheel,
If you clean, do laundry, and prepare food every day
Suddenly, I'm in a sense of skepticism.

All of these lives exist.

How unfortunate is the fate of the second hand,
When the second hand turns 60 times
Then, the minute hand goes around once
When the minute hand goes round
The hour hand moves only one square.
Think about it.
When the hour hand turns only two times all day
The second hand needs to spin 1,440 laps with its slender body.

There's a world of injustice in the clock.
But there's no need to fail.
As long as the second hand doesn't move,
The minute hand, the hour hand, can't go a single step forward.
Existence is precious.

Even if it means a single step
You can be great in an instant.
