기술의 진화(The Evolution of Technology)

    기술의 진화는 산업과 비즈니스의 끝없는 혁신을 견인한다. 1차 산업혁명 이후 글로벌 경제 체제는 100년을 주기로 거대한 변화의 물결에 휩싸였다. 1769년 증기기관이 발명되면서 영국에서 1차 산업혁명이 일어났고, 이로부터 100년이 지나 1870년 상업용 발전기가 발명되면서 2차 산업혁명으로 '전기의 시대'가 열렸다. 에디슨이 백열등을 개발했고 인류는 전기 에너지의 도움으로 화학, 전기, 석유, 철강 등 중화학공업의 토대를 만드는 혁신을 일으켰다.

    또다시 100년이 흘러 1969년 반도체가 발명되었다. 그로 인해 텔레비전, 냉장고, 세탁기 등 백색가전 전성시대에 이어 컴퓨터와 인터넷의 등장으로 3차 산업혁명인 지식정보 시대를 맞이했다. 이후 50여 년이 흐른 오늘날 인류는 인공지능 혁명과 온·오프라인의 붕괴를 몰고 올 4차 산업혁명 시대를 앞두고 있다. 웹 3.0, 블록체인, NFT, 메타버스, 가상화폐, 인공지능(챗GPT), 빅데이터 등 새로운 용어들이 등장했다.

     이제 앞으로 50년은 메타버스 세상이 펼쳐질 것이다. 얼마나 빨리 전환될지는 확언할 수 없지만, 현재 온라인 형태의 콘텐츠는 모두 메타버스 콘텐츠로 대전환하게 될 것이다.

    메타버스는 왜 디지털 신대륙으로 일컬어질까? 웹 3.0 시대의 결정판이 되기 때문이다. 가상공간을 현실세계보다 더 실감 나게 구현할 수 있는 IT 기술 들이 상용화 수준에 이르렀다. 특히 소셜미디어에 디지털 네이티브들이 가상공간을 새롭게 디자인하는 '메타버스 네이티브'로 진화하고 있다. 여기에 생성형 AI가 메타버스 세상에 필요한 수많은 아이템에 대한 창작 지원군 역할을 하게 될 것이다. - 최은수 'SUPER CREATOR 콘텐츠의 지배자들' 중에서

    Technological evolution drives endless innovations in industry and business. Every 100 years since the First Industrial Revolution, the global economic system has been engulfed in a huge wave of changes. The invention of the steam engine in 1769 led to the first industrial revolution in England, and 100 years later, a commercial generator was invented in 1870, opening the 'age of electricity' with the second industrial revolution. Edison developed an incandescent lamp, and mankind, with the help of electrical energy, revolutionized the foundation of heavy and chemical industries such as chemistry, electricity, oil, and steel.

    Another 100 years later, semiconductors were invented in 1969. As a result, white goods such as televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines have entered the era of knowledge and information, the third industrial revolution, with the advent of computers and the Internet following the heyday of televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines. Today, more than 50 years later, humanity is about to face the era of the fourth industrial revolution, which will bring about the artificial intelligence revolution and the collapse of online and offline. New terms such as Web 3.0, blockchain, NFTs, metaverse, virtual currency, artificial intelligence (chatGPT), and big data have emerged.

    The metaverse world will unfold in the next 50 years. It is unclear how quickly it will be converted, but all current online will be transformed into metaverse content.

    Why is the metaverse said to be a digital new continent? This is because it becomes the deciding plate in the era of Web 3.0. IT technologies that can implement virtual spaces more realistically than in the real world have reached the level of commercialization. In particular, digital natives on social media are evolving into 'metaverse natives' who redesign virtual spaces. On top of that, the Generative AI will serve as a creative support group for numerous items needed in the metaverse world.
