네 마음의 꽃을 피워라(Bloom the flowers of your heart)
우리는 삶에서 겪는 모든 고통과 갈등이
어디로부터 유래했는지 이해할 수 있다.
그것은 맨얼굴을 드러내야 할 때 가면을 쓰거나,
반대로 가면을 드러내야 할 때
맨 얼굴을 보여주려 해서 발생하는 것이다.

어떤 나라의 임금이 신하들의 정직성을 시험해 보려고 했습니다.
임금은 삶은 씨앗을 준비한 뒤 비단 주머니에 담아 모든 신하들에게 나누어 주며 말했습니다.
❝이것은 아주 아름다운 꽃의 씨앗이네.
한 달의 기간을 줄 테니 각자 최선을 다해 꽃을 피워 화분에 담아 오게.❞
신하들은 모두 정성 들여 씨앗을 심고 가꾸었습니다.
하지만 삶은 씨앗이었기에아무리 좋은 비료를 주고 정성을 다해도 싹이 나지 않았습니다.
어느덧 왕이 내린 기한이 모두 지났고 신하들은 모두 아름다운 꽃이 자란 화분을 가져왔습니다.
씨앗이 자라지 않자 이미 아름답게 자란 다른 꽃을 옮겨 심어 가져 온 것입니다.
그런데 그 중에는 아무것도 자라지 않은 빈 화분을 당당하게 들고 온 신하도 있었습니다.
왕은 그 신하를 불러 물었습니다.
❝모두들 화려하게 꽃 핀 화분을 들고 왔는데, 어째서 너만 빈 화분을 가져왔느냐?❞
❝저 역시도 이 씨앗을 한 달 동안 지극히 보살폈습니다.
그런데 어쩐 일인지 꽃은커녕 싹도 트지 않았습니다.
하지만 이것이 제 최선의 결과였기에 어쩔 수가 없었습니다.❞
왕은 그 한 명의 신하로 인해 크게 흡족 해 했습니다.
그리고 그 신하를 더욱 총애 해 훗날 나라의 가장 높은 직책에 임명하였습니다.
남에게 잘 보이려고 노심초사하느라어느 누구에게도 솔직하게 대하지 않는다면 불안에 빠지기 쉽습니다.
그래서 많은 사람의 삶처럼거짓되게 살고 감추며 살게 됩니다.
항상 자신을 지켜보면서평소 하는 역할이 들킬까봐
두려워하는 것은 괴로운 일입니다.
누군가 우리를 볼 때마다우리를 판단한다고 생각하는 한, 걱정에서 벗어나지 못할 것입니다.
우리의 의도와는 반대로우리의 겉모습이벗겨지는 일이 많기 때문입니다.
엄격하게 자기를 통제할 수 있다고 해도항상 가면을 쓰고 사는 사람의 삶은행복할 수도 없고 걱정에서 벗어날 수도 없습니다.
앞질러 가는 사람이 자꾸 눈에 뛸 때는 뒤에 오는 사람을 생각해보십시오.
인생에 대해서 감사하고 싶으면 당신이 지금까지 얼마나 많은 사람을 앞질러 왔는가를 생각해보십시오.
아니, 타인은 아무래도 좋습니다.
당신 자신이 과거의 당신을 앞질러 온 것입니다.
자신의 처지를 비관하지 않고 당당하고 멋지게 자신의 일에 최선을 다하는 당신이 있기에 우리의 오늘, 또 내일은 희망적입니다.
The king of a country tried to test the honesty of his subjects.
